Virginia West

V. West trained as an actor and has toured widely as both an actor and a singer. Although experienced in many types of performance, V. is new to clowning and is finding real joy in this new form of play. Big thank yous to Sketchy and Fesso for their Crash and Smash courses. V. will be performing in Ottawa this summer in a Company of Fools, Torchlight Shakespeare production of Henry the Fifth.

1) Tell us about your number in the Student Soirée and why you’re doing it?

Dapper the Clown is a genderqueer clown who likes to play in the in-between places. Tonight they are getting ready for a very romantic date.

2) Is your number clown, bouffon, character or something else entirely?

My number is clown.

3) What is your best clown experience? Either as a performer or a spectator?

My best clown experience was during my very first performance when I finally let myself play with the audience.

4) Are there any public figures you consider to be clowns?  Why?

(I’m going to think about this one a little longer.)

5) Tell us a joke.

Knock, knock.

Who’s there?

Owls.

Owls who?

Yes. That’s right! Owls hoo!
