David Yee

David Yee is a Chinese/Scottish Hapa Canadian born and raised in Toronto. He is currently the Artistic Director of fu-GEN Theatre Company. A Dora Mavor Moore Award nominated actor and playwright, his work has been produced internationally and at home. His play, lady in the red dress, was nominated for the 2010 Governor General’s Literary Award and is published by Playwrights Canada Press. Upcoming: paper SERIES will be at the Magnetic North Theatre Festival in Calgary this June, and will be published in November; carried away on the crest of the wave will have its world premiere in April 2012 at Tarragon Theatre.

1)    Tell us about your turn in the festival and why you’re doing it?
Adam peer pressured me into it. he also said cool kids smoke. the guy’s basically evil.

2) Is your number clown, bouffon, character or something else entirely?

I’m gonna say something else entirely. mostly because I don’t know what the preceding things mean.

3) What is your best clown experience? Either as a performer or a spectator?

the 5 minutes heather marie annis was single.

4) Your worst?

the movie “It”

5) Are there any public figures you consider to be clowns?  Why?

it would be obvious to say ‘rob ford’. so I’ll say ‘doug ford’.

6) Tell us a joke.

don’t tell me what to do. I’m an independent woman.
