Matthew Reid – Composer, Foo Productions
Matthew Reid (composer, music performed/recorded by) Matthew Reid is the critically acclaimed composer/music director/one-man-band at Toronto’s Second City. He has created the score for twelve of their comedic revues & spent many additional years making music for their touring, educational and corporate companies all over Canada and the U.S. He has performed with stars of SNL, SCTV and Whose Line is it Anyway and has appeared as a musical personality on such TV shows as Next Comedy Legend and Razzberry Jazzberry Jam.
Matthew studied composition with some of Canada’s most esteemed composers including Walter Bucyznski, Lothar Klein and Chan Ka Nin. He has created a considerable amount of classical concert hall music including symphonies and choral work. And, just for fun, in 2011 he auto-tuned John Cage’s 4’33”.
In addition to creating music for theatre and concert hall, he has created music and sound for commercials, film, tv and most recently has become a sought- after composer for videogames.
Matthew is also a critically acclaimed comedian and writer, having created many hours of material with sketch partner Sean Browning in Reid Along With Browning and contributing material to Second City’s revues. He has won many Canadian Comedy Awards and one Dora. He also was honoured to spend a week in a small masterclass with Alan Arkin studying improv acting.
